Background:

Wetaskiwin City Council passed the 2020 municipal budget at their regular December 9, 2019 Council meeting following extensive online and in-person public consultation. The approved 2020 operating budget—funded through the tax base, operating grants, and user fees/sales—totals $15,821,502—resulting in an estimated overall 2.28 percent tax rate decrease for 2020.


Where we are at:

  • The 2020 Approved Budget document is being finalized and will be published soon
  • The 2020 Tax Rate Bylaw will be presented to Wetaskiwin City Council this Spring

    Yes, we did things a little differently last year. Instead of hosting one budget open house at Wetaskiwin City Hall, we brought the consultation to you. 

    Nearly 200 community members shared their thoughts on the proposed 2020 budget through an online budget engagement tool, and over 50 community members attended the budget open houses that took place in various community spaces.
